Storm Water Management Notification
Ordinance #156
Spring/Summer has finally arrived and building projects have begun around Indian Lake Borough. This is a reminder to the residents and contractors that Building Permits are required from the Indian Lake Borough office prior to any building project activity. In addition to building projects, creating any impervious areas such as paving driveways, cart paths, concrete pads, etc. are required to meet the Indian Lake Borough Storm Water Management (SWM) Ordinance #156 if the total impervious area of the entire property is equal to or exceeds 5,000 square feet. Impervious areas include proposed paving/ concrete projects, existing pavement/ concrete areas, and any structures with roofs. Ordinance #156 can be found on the Borough website at www.indianlakepa.gov under the Ordinances and Resolution tab.
If you already have or are planning to do any kind of paving or concrete activity that is going to create 5,000 square feet or more of impervious area on the total property, please make sure you review the SWM Ordinance and follow requirements as required. This includes applying for a Building Permit and submitting the SWM information as needed to the Borough office. Anyone who does not submit permit applications and receive approval prior to the project will be in Violation of Ordinance #144 and Ordinance #156 and will be subject to fines and legal action if not corrected.
